Representations of characters
The main female character in the film is represented differently throughout the film. near the of the film she's represented as mentally unstable. This is shown when we see we see the male's point of view. we see that they have never been in a relationship and she's imagined it all. we also see that all her artwork she has done and how creepy it is. she made a figure of the man with cloth and other bits and pieces. we see all her actions from the male's point of view we see how he's becoming extremely stressed because of her actions. In the start of the film she's represented as an innocent and caring art student trying to make a living. we see her in a relationship with a doctor and she's really happy. she sends roses and paintings to him and he likes them.
The narrative hides the way she i represented by showing two sides to the story. We see Her side and the males side. When see her side of the story we see her in a relationship with a successful doctor. she sends flowers and paintings to him and tells her friends how much she loves him and how they went on dates. We see her get let down multiple times and eventually she tries to kill herself and it seems that her lover has abandoned her. when we see her from the male's perspective we see she's obsessed with him and she's mentally ill. this is good as its hidden the true narrative from us until the end of the film.
At the start of the film She's represented as an innocent woman who's fallen in love and we see her with bright colours but as the film progresses all the colours start to fade. When she starts getting let down all the colours fade. And when she gets let down for the last time we see her completely engulfed in shadow. These colour changes represent her decent into madness. Or at least that's what we think.
